Just as the title says. I'll be watching a YouTube video or a Flash Player video on BBC and the CPU usage spikes to 100%. Usually if I'm streaming 720 or 1080, but it has happen with 360 resolution.
I can run Minecraft and Assassin's Creed II as usual. I played them both for an hour with no problem. I can also watch 1080 videos that are already on my computer. So I have definitely pinpointed it to Flash.

My GPU isn't overheating or anything, nor is the CPU. Everything is right around 35C... 40C max, if I have lots of things running.
I've updated Flash and Java.
I uninstalled all of my NVIDIA drivers then downloaded and reinstalled the most recent ones.
This has been occurring in the last month, but is more noticeable now.

It looks as if Flash is crashing my NVIDIA driver. I've gotten a bubble that says Windows Kernel Mode Driver NVIDIA 332.21 has crashed and was restored. (Something along those lines.)

I had major issues with Chrome causing lockups and crashing, I've switched to Firefox and never looked back. I just installed a simple Chrome-style skin

I believe it's an issue with Chrome, IMHO. But you are welcome to troubleshoot further.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try Firefox. The problem did occur when I tested it with IE.

If anyone else has other experiences with this, it would be nice to hear.

I tried Firefox. It still freezes the screen and cursor, and audio loops.

I even did a BIOS update.

This time it prompted my system to reconnect to our wi-fi.
I'm really not sure what's going on here.

Nothing.

I tried two older drivers: 285.62 and 310.90.
Nothing has changed.

Shoot. Didn't mean to choose that as the answer necessarily.

For Flash, I should try that again.

Even delete the directory before you reinstall if you can find it.

The problem has definitely been reduced. Thank you, Alec!
I've been able to watch two HD music videos with no problem. Last night I was watching a movie and made it through an hour with no issues, but a few freezes started cropping up part way through.

For others reading this, the things that actually made a difference:
-Cleaning out temp files
-Doing clean installs of my browsers and Flash

I'm not sure if doing a rollback on my NVIDIA driver helped or not... I'll have to see what happens when I do feel that I need to update them. I know other people have this problem, so we'll have to see what NVIDIA says until then.

EDIT: I spoke too soon. I just had a 480p video freeze momentarily.
Still, the problem has been reduced.

Are you sure this is solved? Because I was having the same issues and a rollback of my Wireless Atheros driver actually fixed the problem. I tried a TON of other rollbacks/changes before this and it is for sure the culprit. I am really baffled by how this is the most updated driver....they should have had a patch months ago.

The error reported was a videocard crash, so there's no reason to investigate the wireless driver.

I may have solved the problem, uninstall adobe flash player and everything adobe flash, uninstall all browsers including IE you can reinstall it through features, look it up if you don't know how.

Also if you have AMD, open Catalyst Control Center (CCC) and on the tab where it says VIDEO click that, a sub menu will appear, click Global Video Quality, then un-check Enforce Smooth Video Playback. This should help. Reboot and reinstall everything, browsers and Adobe Flash.

But most likely it may freeze again, it's really Adobe Flash player it seems like it's interfering with the video card drivers, it's not the video card, it's that corrupt Adobe flash player it seems like, but who knows, all I know is these Operating systems we use all have a ton of bloatware just to spy on us from the NSA, that's all it is.

In conclusion, just get rid of Adobe Flash player and just download the videos you watch, there's ton of extensions out there, only 1 works very well to download youtube videos it's called, YouTube Video Downloader also another extension to install is called I don't care about cookies. I use opera. I'm thinking of switching to something different soon, probably IE 11.
