Thermal paste blunder.

So I put my CPU and the cooling fan on my build today, and while trying to attach the cooling fan it slid around a bit. Needless to say, the thermal paste got spread around along with it. Now only a small amount actually spilled over, and I cleaned that up right away. Now as far as I can see none of it is spilling over the edge of the CPU anymore, but should I still be worried?

well, to me, its telling that you mention some spilled over. That means that you've put too much on the chip usually. There should be just the thinnest coat of paste, just barely enough to cover the grey color of the cpu. More is not better, less is better. More will actually cause temps to rise.

If you want to clean it, you can use qtips and rubbing alcohol.
