my screen freezes up when I move from one application to another? what can I do to correct this?

My screen freezes when I move from one application to another. It seems when I had this problem one time before I was told to change something in task manager --- set affinity? I can't remember what I was told to do?

Open task manager, then go to the performance tab. There are some graphs there - check to see what the RAM and CPU usage are when this is happening.
