I've been trying to update the VBIOS on my card, both the .exe downloaded from ASUS and the update button in ASUS GPU-Tweak software fail. I spoke to an ASUS rep and was informed that the VBIOS update only works if I am using an ASUS motherboard (which I am not). This seems odd but it is what it is. Does anyone know of a way around this? Some alternate way of updating?

PC Specs are as follows:

ASUS R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X DirectCU II Graphic Card
ASROCK Z77 Extreme4 Mobo
Windows 8.1 PRO 64-bit
Intel i3 3220 processor
(2x4GB) Kingston HyperX Blu 1600MHz RAM
Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB 2.5in SATA3 SSD
XFX Pro 850W Black Edition Gold Cert. PSU
ASUS PCE-N15 300Mbps 802.11B/G/N Wireless PCI-E Network Adapter

Thanks in advance!

Fixed this, in case anyone comes across this thread in the future here's what I had to do.

1. Download the latest vBIOS .exe from ASUS
2. Open it with 7-Zip and extract the ROM
3a. Loosely follow steps 1,2 and 5 of this guide: http://www.cryptobadger.com/2013/10/undervolting-in-linux-via-modified-bios/
3b. Note that you have to copy the ROM extracted earlier onto the USB stick. Then in step 5 of the tutorial linked, run the command with the file name of that ROM
