I've had that issue long ago... it happened because my connection was unstable so steam wasn't able to validate or whatever it does before launching the game thus closing it, check if your connection is with problems (like how stable is a ping to google).

Other than that you could try launching those games directly with their exe file, see if it's able to reach into the game, some steam games are possible to be run this way but no idea which games you have.

Sometimes is just a Steam issue while they're doing some accounts maintenance (if you've been long enough with Steam you've probably had times when you were unable to connect or having friends disabled).

If this problem is recent just wait a day or two and should go away (assuming the problem it's from Steam)

You could try to use a restore your system to a point previous to the start of the issue, if you can get to play it means something in your OS (some application) is holding back your steam games.

but wouldn't I have an issue playing games on something rather than just steam? my computer is brand new and the only things I have on it I had on my last computer and they all ran fine with steam restoring the stystem just seems like an annoying step to me lol

I was going to say make a fresh OS install, with that in mind a system restore is less annoying.
