Almost sure video card is dead, any signs of life?

Couple of days ago while playing a game, my PC crashed (screen was all vertical yellow lines). It would no longer boot normally, only in safe mode.

So I uninstalled all the graphics drivers (card in question is an HD 6850), ran CCleaner and DriverSweeper and booted normally. Reinstalled the drivers, rebooted. It worked (normal resolution) for about 30 seconds, then crashed again when I went into ATI Catalyst software, with similar vertical lines.

I swapped in another PC's card (HD 6570), everything worked fine right away.

I tried putting my HD6850 into the other PC, same problems. Put the 6570 back in, no problems.

So my question is, is the card 100% dead? What else could it be? It is useless or could it be fixed?

Solution
it's definitely broken... you could either try to reapply thermal paste yourself in case that's the problem - and it working a bit suggests this - or take it to a professional to see if the damaged components can be changed...
