Anyone identify this noise?

Solution

+1 to that. There is not much you can do to fix that, other than...

1) Defrag the drive
2) Delete programs that you don't really need
3) Buy a new drive and put about half of the programs onto the new drive, or
4) Buy an SSD, and just put the OS, and your most frequently used programs on it.

Definitely not the drive. I have tested the system just running on my SSD with the drive unplugged and upon listening to the mobo backplate it is definitely around the CPU/RAM area

No. Funnily enough when I was using a H100i I thought it was the pump so I returned it. To my horror it's obviously something deeper. The only this I can think of is that it's coming from the CPU or motherboard

Already tried. Besides, the 4 Noctua fans I have in my case are brand new and I just got them today. The noise was also present even when I just had the stock fans installed

The PSU is a Corsair RM 750, bottom mounted in a define r4. As. I say the noise is definitely in the CPU/RAM area. Will delve more deeply into the PSU tomorrow, otherwise I may have to return the i7 and z87 Sabertooth and see if new ones fix the problem

I was thinking mobo coil whine. I will have to listen to the psu properly tomorrow and if not just rma the mobo, which'll mean taking my whole PC apart T_T Joy

Turns out it was those tiny fans that come on the sabertooth, I unplugged both of them and my PC is now totally silent

If you want to put new fans in place of the ones you took out, I found a few options...
