Hi Guys,

I have a serious problem. I had a windows XP crash on my Girfriends Pc and the system did not wanted to boot up in any way. I thought I will re install the windows but first to save the files I took out the HDD and put it into my PC

When I copied over all files I saw I had 1 partition only.
When I installed the Windows I have deleted the old partition and created a new one and proceeded with the install.
Once finished I have copied back here data, about 30GB and when I asked her to use her PC she asked me where are the other 2 drive she used to have?

Then I realized, when I saved down her files there were no other drive letters, so the partition table might have been damaged, and I could save only 1 of the 3 partitions. (I did not remembered that she had 3 partitions on 1 HDD)

So the facts, I have lost two partitions around 30 GB of family photos, videos, and many unreplaceable stuff like documents for her University studies and so on.

IS there a way, to restore that previous setup with all 3 partitions?

I tried "getdataback" and another recovery tool but they seem to find only the current files. So nothing at all. Could it be that 30GB file I copied back messed up everyrhing?

Sorry for the long story but I need to know if there is a way to fix this.

Thank you

Had the exact same problem a few years ago, also tried the GetmyDataBack with no success, but then I used another one and after several hours it managed to recover practically all of my data (~90%), sadly....... I don't remember the name of that program, looking around the installers I have for data recovery are:

- FireLion Get my Files Back
- Recuva
- Easy Recovery Pro

Also, one step I remember I took that time was to delete the partition I had made initially over the HDD in question, with no partition at all one of these programs was able to look around the files, perhaps that helped perhaps not, you'll have to try and hope for the best.

So you think maybe I would get more success if I would delet even the current partition?

I'll look up thos apps! Thanks for the support!

Any other ideas are welcome by others as well!
