Max memory voltage supported by CPU?

Hi,

I recently built a rig with a Intel i7 3930k processor on an MSI x79a-gd45 plus mb with the G.Skill Trident Series 2400 MHz rated ram. The thing is that the memory is rated for 1.65v. I've been reading debates going back and forth that SB-E cpus can't take that much voltage and others saying that yes they can. I don't know who to listen to. I'd love to be able to run my memory at rated values, but not at the risk of my CPU.

I then came across this: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/core/core-i7-lga-2011-datasheet-vol-1.html

Am I reading that correctly? Does it say that a SB-E can be taken to 1.8v? I know this isn't recommended, but is that what it is saying?

SB-E can handle 1.65v no problem, as anything that uses DDR3 can. It has to because that is the top range of the JEDEC DDR3 voltage spec, however 1.65v is the maximum "recommended" voltage. You can run it above that at your own risk.

Yeah I would never feed 1.8 into my memory either, tbh the max I really wanted to go was 1.6, but I will still try it out and run Prime95. Thanks for quick replies!
