System is Dell Optiplex 745 running Windows XP (SP3). Display is a Samsung Syncmaster. I currently have two display adapters installed in the machine; the ATI X1300 and a Trident Blade 3D. I have only been able to get the Blade to work (which is what I am using to post this), however, I would like to get the ATI card working as it will provide much better performance. I have installed what AMD says is the latest drivers for the ATI card. Whenever I move the cable from the Blades VGA connector to the ATI's, all I get is a black screen. Device Manager states that all display adapters are enabled and functioning properly. I have tried disabling and re-enabling the ATI adapter. What am I missing?

Continuing to tinker with things, I finally tried to connect a second monitor to the ATI display adapter and wa-la it started working. I tried taking the Blade display adapter out and only using the ATI and it worked. I think somehow windows had the Blade adapter in as the primary display adapter and wouldn't send any signal out to the second adapter unless it detected a second monitor.
