Choice 1 is best. That setup will max out all games on 1080p. So why would you need a 290?

Btw, you might want to get a Asus or Sapphire 280x instead. The MSI one hasn't performed well. I wanted one (have owned 2 MSI gpus) but benchmarks weren't good.

because many people say r9 290 could play any games with AA + max ultra settings

You are set with option 1. if you can afford the R9 290 with that setup I would do it. Just note if you plan on playing such graphics intensive games as Watchdogs when it releases at max setting you are going to want to go with option 2 see link below.

I have a low end 280x and it allows me to max out BF4 on 1080p with 60fps+. I have all the settings cranked up and I easily break 60fps constantly. I chose the 280x for this reason. I love to turn on AA. A 290 would be overkill in my opinion.

I love my 280x but if the money is there a 290 would not be a bad future proof card.

I understand people want "future proof" but I'd rather have the latest at a good price. Right now a $315 280x will max out all my games, and I don't see that changing for 2/3 years. A 290 sells for $445 here. Just doesn't seem worth it. I'd have to spend an extra $130 for something that I might need in 2/3years. But by then things will have changed that I'll want something else. The higher the initial cost the more money it will depreciate. However, at $315 it won't lose much over a year or 2 compared to a $445 GPU.
