Hi, i have a GTX 460 graphics card with stock cooling fan on it and an AMD athlon X4 640 3Ghz processor. Back when my system was new (about 3 years ago) it ran every game on the market just fine. Now however when ever i run any 3D game even with the graphics settings set to lowest quality, my PC crashes after 1/2 hour or hour game play. I don't ever get frame rate drops even on high quality graphics settings and it usually happens when my GPU temp reaches 80+ degrees Celsius. I constantly clean my computer's inside and remove dust.

My thoughts are that getting a good cooling system for my GPU will solve the problem but I am no expert. So before i go out and spend money i would like to know what cooling system should I buy and is a better cooling system on my GPU gonna solve my problems?

Btw my computer crashes on the same games that it could easily run it the past.

The 400 series cards run pretty hot, especially with the stock fan. Try turning your fan speed up a little to see if anything changes.

My GTX 460 is the ASUS GTX 460 1GB V2 running at 900Mhz Core and 1800Mhz on the Memory with a custom fan curve starting at 40% or 55% depending on how hot my house is and ends at 60%. all while never going above 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Non-reference coolers make a hell of a difference.

The 400 and 500 series are also very picky about temperature and drivers. One little error in the driver would cripple my system two or three times a day.
If all of your games will still work, try using the 314.22 drivers. They are the last nVidia Drivers that I had no problems with.

Before you go out and spend money on something that you may not need. Go download MSI Afterburner. Install it and then turn up your fan speed on your 460. I have a 470 folding 24/7 with the fan speed set to 65% and it never gets above 80C. On a side not I have seen my 470 get to 103C. :) The 4xx series cards are good cards, they just run stupidly hot. :( Even if your 460 wasn't made by MSI it will still work with your card.
