I just upgraded my computer this week it has a new motherboard ( Asus B85M-E), processor (i5 4670), graphics card (Asus Geforce Gtx 650) and new ram (2 sticks of 4 gigs).

I also just installed windows 8.1 (64 bit) and updated my graphic card driver to 332.21 (latest driver).

The problem is that every time I play a game whether Battlefield 4, Day Z standalone, Skyrim, Counterstrike source, Counterstrike: Global offensive the screen turns black within 5 minutes of actual game time (faster if its a "more advanced game" like Battlefield 4). Then my monitor loses connection then goes back to desktop sometimes saying the driver crashed and recovered. This normally tends to crash the games as well (except skyrim and counterstrike).

Also just before it crashes (like half a second before) I hear a fan (dunno which one yet) go overtime (becomes really loud).

I checked the idle temperature of my graphics card and its at 60 degrees Celsius which is higher than normal.

I have reinstalled my driver multiple times and tweaked the power management mode. None of these past solutions has helped

Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

The problem could be with your PSU, sometimes the computer even freezes or teh performance drops like the pc has a pentium 4.

It sounds like your graphics card is overheating. How is the airflow in your case? Is the graphics card fan spinning? 60 degrees at idle sounds very high.

Try updating your video card and motherboard bios because Windows 8.1 is a new operating system and you might need to update your system for full support.

Usually you get that message when you have an unstable card from overclocking too high. So set card to default and check cooling.

I haven't even started to overclock yet and I also opened up the case so it has good air flow. I had a feeling it was my PSU. I think its 500W... is that too low for a 650?

check your max temp under load. Many programs can track your temp and tell you your peak temperature. I use RealTemps for example.
