OS: Win8.1 64bit
PC use: Gaming.

Another stupid question for you guys to laugh at!
This is my first crossfire build so I want to make sure Im updating these cards correctly before I jump onto any games. AMD's Auto-update says all my drivers are up to date. But Im not so sure.. It cant be that easy....

Should I just go ahead and manually update the BIOs,S, VGA and Utilities from their site? Will it affect anything if they are already installed?
Will that install the drivers on BOTH cards?
If not then how do I update both cards?

I have just downloaded the latest version of CCC to tweak the Crossfire settings there but am unsure If I need to run driver sweeper or the likes to get everything running smoothly.

Good question regarding crossfire, simply because there used to be an extra link for crossfire set ups. But in the new AMD driver release notes specifically talks about how the standard driver is updated to handle crossfire and the timing issues that used to be a problem. So it looks like one install and you are done. The rest is just going into the CCC after it is installed and make sure the settings are appropriate for your monitor/system setup. Since this is with a new install, you don't have to remove anything. However, in a month or two when AMD comes out with their next "gotta have it" driver, you want to completely remove this driver and then re-install the new one. Windows has a very stable GPU driver that self installs...

Windows has a very stable GPU driver that self installs when you uninstall any AMD/NVidia driver and does not need to be uninstalled, but is not intended for gaming. I have frequently recommended to people when they run into weird issues, that they completely uninstall their AMD/NVidia drivers and just use their systems with the Windows driver to make sure everything is stable in the non-gaming environment and only when everything is perfect, then install the appropriate gaming driver. You don't need to update the BIOS unless you are having compatibility issues. It can't hurt on a new system to start with the newest BIOS for your MB, but if it is compatible with your current CPU, it is not a necessity/priority.

The build isn't super new, I had it up to date about a month ago but that was for win7.
Now I've just upgraded to win8.1 and a second GPU in crossfire.
Would I have to run driversweeper? Would it be easier/safer to just run it anyway? Even if it was extra effort, just to double check that it is all installed correctly?

Okay I'll give it a go and reinstall the BIOS and VGA directly from the Asus site.
I think I'll do the same for the Mobo as well.
Will driver sweeper run through the mobo drivers also?

No need to re-install the BIOS. Just run Drive sweeper and CCleaner. If everything is good, you are done, you need to start using your system to evaluate that things are working properly. Play some games! I think you may be over thinking/doing some processes. Time to start using it and you will see if there are any problems from there!!

Well I'm kind of worried about under-doing it, if you know what I mean.
But I guess I am being a little over sensitive about it.
Perhaps I should just install mobo BIOS and leave it at that until I find any issues pop up?
