I have a cross hair v Formula z motherboard and a fx 8350 CPU. I've tried going into the bios and setting the profiles and manually setting the memory to 1866 but when I run the memory test It fails, or I get the blue screen. Memory is amd Pre-formance series 8 GB times two factory set at 1866 When I run the test at 1600 it's fine tho.

Solution
whatever man, you are good with 1600. do not bother more on this since there is no out of the moon performance with 1866 in fact in games maybe 1fps, maybe.

then you need to overclock but be very careful when doing it better read about it before doing it or searching you tube videos if you are not familiar with it. this is not my area since i have no love for overclocking

I don't like overclocking either but I bought it from the manufacturer and the stock speed is 1866. Well hopefully someone with more experience can answer this but why won't the profiles work that are built into the memory chipset

Then one of the two are telling you a great big lie lol. From what's been posted so far looks like overclocking it will be the only way to go. If you're trying to set it manually and getting blue screens you may need to manually set the timings and increase the voltage to the memory to keep it stable.

The only other thing I can think of is to make sure you have the latest BIOS since that might provide better support and stability for the memory.

This site is to help people you don't have to be sarcastic if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all I'm trying to receive help. If it don't make a difference why do they even bother making so many different memory speeds I think ill try updating the bios thanks for the help from the people with the nice commits

Ps would you buy a 60in tv and only use 4:3 mode or would you want it to work the way it was ment, Inotherwords I bought memory stock at 1866 why would I want to run it at 1600. (Tnz)

But I can set it manually to 1600 like under clocking and run the memory test and it works so I think correct me if I'm wrong but it can't be the memory that's bad
