Ok, so I recently built my first pc. It has two storage drives a smaller SDD (that i want for just the boot system and a larger HDD.

The problem is when I install new programs they always come up as installing to the C: drive (SDD) and i want them in my HDD drive D:.

How can i change this so things install in D:? I have forgot to change it on some large programs during installation and it is a pain moving them to D:

Almost all applications give the opportunity to change where it gets installed to. Don't just accept the default.

What size is the SSD? Applications, apart from games, don't really take up that much drive space.
A 120GB or larger can actually hold quite a few applications, as well as the OS.

it is 120GB but my HDD is 2TB and i kinda want all my stuff there from now on but i have no ide how to do this unless i manually change it every time i install something new.

The main reason I'm saying this is that i downloaded a game (ffxiv) and it was automatically put on the C drive i think because i never seen the option to change it maybe ive just missed it though

See tutorial:

Steam games can be installed anywhere. In the client, you can designate multiple locations.
Just about every other application install gives the option of where to install it.
