Hi, I've got a 3 months old USB3 hd of 3 tb. Recently it had files with CRC errors on them. I have now deleted all the folders with errors (from Explorer). But the hd is very slow (appr 10 minutes to change a folder name etc). Should I reformat it from scratch? I have all the data in a backup so there is no formal disadvantage more than the work to copy it all back after.

My OS is win7, 64 bits, core i7

ps. It is not that slow ALL the time ... but enough to make me wonder. I have 4 more hdds of the same brand (Seagate) and they don't behave like this. The behaviour is the same if I move the hd to another computer.

With CRC errors, you either have a hardware problem with the USB controller or the drive inside. Call Seagate for warranty replacement as soon as you can. Their USB 3 hard drives generally only have either a 1 year warranty or a 90 day warranty, depending on the model. If you wait too long, you won't be able to get it replaced.

Thank you, I will. I have a 1 year warranty (Sweden), so there's no problem having it replaced-
