Hi guys! I'm new here and this is my first thread so I'd REALLY appreciate ALL the help I can get with this one because it's really a problem for me right now....

I just re-installed my Windows XP sp3 on my PC because I was getting an error everytime I tried to start it saying that the NTLDR file was missing and I have an external 1TB Seagate GoFlex hard disk with 3 partitions of 105 Gb, 811 Gb and 15 Gb with 98 Gb, 710(I think, not really sure how much) Gb and 10Gb filled with many files. After installing XP, i tried to access my hard disk to restore all my backed up files but I was surprised when I saw that the 811 Gb partition was completely empty! Every single file on it was gone and I tried to recover them by using Recuva but it couldn't find anything :( I don't know what else to do and all those files are important because it had not only my files, but also the work files of my mom and dad! :(

If anyone has ANY idea to fix this, PLEASE help me! :(

Solution
You should really maintain at least two backups of important files on two separate hard drives, since all hard drives fail sooner or later, and it's statistically proven to be sooner with external hard drives.

Test your GoFlex with SeaTools for Windows, using the Long/Extended test:
