So basically i am going to build my first computer. My house's floor is fully carpeted apart from the kitchen, where the kitchen is so small i cant possibly build there.

So i was wondering if i could build on a wooden desk (its actually part of my table but i took it out and is now only a piece of wood with no use). Basically what i mean, is to stand on the my wooden desk that is on the carpeted ground. Since i heard that carpeted ground is a no no for building computers especially the motherboard part. So should i stand on the wooden desk on the carpeted ground or should i build it on an actual desk which is also on the carpeted ground.

For people who are confused of what i mean by the wooden desk: It is basically the long wooden plank that you work on and where you connect the table legs and stuff to. Basically the flat part of it... (Sorry english is not my native language)

If this is confusing to understand, then basically think of it as building on a cardboard box (eg. computer case box) which is on the ground (the carpet ground). Where i am standing on the cardboard box on the carpeted ground and me building the computer on a wooden desk.
>>>>>Is that considered as static safe?<<<<<<<<<<<

Solution
Hold by the side to keep from contaminating the contacts.
Discharge any static by touching the case before you handle parts.
And, don't shuffle your feet on the carpet which will build up static.
Don't pet your cat either.

So basically i can sit on the table and build the pc

So that means i can stand on something that is on the carpet and then build my computer? (and ofc grounding myself by touching metal/case). So its the safest for me to just stand still right?

So basically i can avoid static charge/damage even if i was on a carpet by never touching ANY metal parts of the motherboard? (by the sides, but will eventually touch the metal lever to insert cpu) So basically if i hold all my components by the side i wont have a high risk of damaging the components?
