Last night while streaming video on chrome, my newly build pc froze up completely. Ctrl+Alt+delete did nothing, nor did anything else I tried. I restarted, but immediately after logging in, it crashed again (blue screen). However, after booting in Safe Mode, and then restarting once more, I was able to log on. Strangely, instead of immediately displaying my normal desktop and wall paper, there was only a black screen with a small white box in the middle saying "Please Wait." After about 10 seconds, the desktop returned to normal. I am not sure the cause or severity of this issue, but I hope someone can give me more information. I will include the error files, and anything else needed upon request.

Solution
Usually, when Safe Mode allows you to get somewhere that you can't get to in Normal Mode, it's caused by a bad driver or some incompatible software which installs virtual drivers (eg third-party firewall, antivirus software, or CD burning software.

That's because Windows loads only a minimum set of drivers in Safe Mode, ignoring third-party ones (except the network driver if you choose Safe Mode with Networking support)

The actual culprit will be whatever driver or software you installed just prior to the problem occurring. If that rings any bells for you, uninstall the driver or software in Safe Mode and you should be able to start Windows normally.
