I want to upgrade a component of my computer to help achieve better fps in gaming. I don't know my bottleneck. I run every game on 1080p and always want to. crisis 3 runs 1080p but on low settings and avg. 20 fps...I really noticed a issue with need for speed the run..its not playable even on low 720p it lags very bad. Yet my laptop can max it out 1080p ultra with no lag. laptop is 3rd gen i7 with gtx660. looking to spend around 300 dollars.

Specs are:
Windows 8.1 64-bit
8 Gbs Patriot 1600 Ram
Gibabyte Micro board AM3+
Athlon II x2 250 Processor 3.0ghz
EVGA GTX 560 ti video card
Crucial 60Gb SSD for Operating System

If I were you I would upgrade the cpu to fx 8320 as its really cheap in my opinion atm. On the other hand the gtx 560ti is pretty old.

I would suggest you buy new cpu as this is more likely to bottleneck your gpu.Specialy on game such as crisis3 it does have some influence but even if you upgrade cpu or gpu you shouldint expect huge performance increase as the your gpu and cpu are a bit low end items.

Thanks for the advice...lets say I ordered a 8320 processor and had 350 dollars for a video card...what would be best bang for buck for the card.

I live in uk so i am not sure what you can buy for 350 bucks but I assume the best card for that would be gtx 760 or hd 7950 , r9 270x

You can get a GTX 770 for $350 with 2 gigs being fine at 1080P
This is $289 after rebate and some nice free games http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
