Power supply compatibility

I have built a Gigabyte GA X79 UD3 with Intel i7 4820k and I used my previous PC Power and Cooling S750 power supply. When the system sleeps, it powers down instead. Could that be that the power supply is not ErP compliant? Thank you.

I am sorry for not being specific. I mean it doesn't sleep, it powers off. Therefore it doesn't wake up. I have to start it from the power switch.

So I have called Gigabyte and they said try updating video drivers, and if that doesn't work buy an ErP compliant power supply. Video drivers didn't help, so I ordered a Corsair TX850M.

i think it's pretty normal for a power supply to power down when your pc goes into sleep mode. You need not to worry about that.
If while working it powers down, then that can be a situation to think upon for solution :D

As I had a suspicion, the new power supply did not change the issue. Of course, I feel better with a new versus a 6 year old psu.

Here is some luck by chance: Go to:
Control Panel> Power Options> Edit Plan Settings(The one you are using currently)> Change advanced power settings> click on 'Hard Disk'> Click Turn off Hard Disk after.
Now if you see any time set on it, click there and just type 'Never' in that place without ''. Click ok. And set Put the computer to sleep: Never
I hope it brings you some luck.

Today I did a clean install of Windows 7 and the computer sleeps as designed, so I was sure it wasn't my setup. I spoke with a shop I work with and they mentioned disabling "hybrid" sleep and that solved my problem with Windows 8.1.

i hope that have solved your problem. If not, try the method i suggested. When i installed the windows, Turn off hdd timer was set to 10 mins meaning if my hard disk was being idle for 10 mins, it would should it down and i had to reboot the pc. :D
Anyway good luck and let me know if it truly solved your problem.
