Crossfire question help

Solution
Nope, they have to be the same or very similar models in order to cross fire. Like the 7970 can xfire with a 280x since they are basically the same GPU.

Thanks! Quick question, do you think a 4GB version of a 270X would be capable of ultra settings @900p for most games? or should I save up another $100 and get a 280X?

The point of those higher VRAM cards are for doing xfire. A single 4gb card won't perform better than its 2gb counterpart because those GPUs by themselves are not capable of creating images that exceed the stock 2gb limit. When you SLI, you don't add the 2 cards vram together, but rather the total system vram is the amount of vram on the least card, so that's why you have to SLI 2 4gb versions to have 4gb VRAM. a 270x is capable of ultra at that resolution for most games.
