Hello everyone!

I just finished to build my new PC based on a i7 4770k Processor and an Asus Z87-DELUXE motherboard.

I don't overclock but I keep getting the error since the computer was born (the first time when I got this error was his second power on when I finished to build the system).

The error is:

"CPU Temperature Error - Press F1 to run setup" -

I tried several thing:

a) Changed the OS from Win 8 to Win 7
b) removed the stock i7 CPU Cooler and buyed a new one: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO - same error
c) tried 3 diferent cooling pastes (Intel stock paste and 2 Cooler Master pastes)
c) Updated the BIOS to last one (from Dec 2013)

I can delete this error only:

1) if remove the CPU cooler and replace it back
2) if I remove the Motherboard battery...
3) only if I ignore the temperature in the BIOS.. (but I really want to monitor the temperature in BIOS !)

Every piece of the computer is new, and the problem is strange..

Real Temp 3.70 shows a minimum of 28 Celsius Degree and a maximum of 64 Celsius for the CPU...

The error is very annoying because i want to keep the bios CPU temperature to be monitored...
Right now, the only thing I can to to enter Windows is to ignore the bios temperature or remove the mobo battery or removal of CPU cooler - any of each procedure will remove temporary the error...

It is the mobo temperature faulty ?
What else should I try ?

The specs are:

Motherboard: Asus Z87-Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K Quad-Core 3.5 GHZ 8 MB Cache BX80646I74770K
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) CML16GX3M2A1600C9
SSD for OS: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive MZ-7TE250BW
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3 TB HDD SATA 6 Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 7200 RPM 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST3000DM001
Case: Cooler Master Silencio 650 Pure
Optical Drive: LG BD-RE BH16NS40 BluRay Drive

Please help..

I have same mobo and cpu and have the same problem.

Googling a bit learned me that this is a common issue with asus mobo's

In other threads here I noted the message that one needs to lower the warning number of rpm from 600

I have a noctua cooler which works at 500+ rpm

If someone knows where to change the number in the bios please tell us

I do not like to disable the monitoring of cpu temps

Thanks in advance

inside Bios, change to advanced Settings, Temperature monitor, scroll down and you can find specific settings to your fans. I had similar problem, PC no start with a bios notification CPU FAN FAIL!

The solution was to RMA.
I returned the motherboard to the seller and the I received another Z87 Deluxe board.
This one is working fine. Probably it had a temp sensor issue..
