Hi all,

I'm planning on building a gaming rig for myself (at around $1000 AU), and have been planning it on PCPartPicker.

I am using Battlefield 4 as my "real-life performance" comaprison/test and was wondering how this build:

PCPartPicker Build

would perform playing it and any suggestions/changes you think I should do.

Cheers!

It's a very good build. In this price range, it's not a "budget" build. Otherwise, here are my comments:

- I wouldn't take that CX series power supply. They are cheap and tend to break often. Instead, look for a better quality unit from either Seasonic, XFX or Corsair (except the CX or RM series).

- It's a bit expensive for 8 GB of RAM. Take a look at Kingston HyperX Black Series or Corsair Vengeance LP. It may be cheaper.

- The cooler is great but to save even more money, I suggest you pick an Hyper 212 EVO instead.

With the money you saved, look at the GTX 770. I'm sure you could find one in about the same price rang as the R9 280X. As for the brand choice, Gigabyte, EVGA and ASUS are amont the best ones.

If you have...

Thanks Oleonius, I have never heard of any problems with that series of PSU's, but I will look into getting a better one for future-proofing anyway :),

The current RAM I have is the cheapest 8gb 2 module RAM on PCPartPicker right now so I will stick with that.

The Hyper 212 EVO is currently not available and the one I have picked out is only $3 more expensive and has better specs.

I would like to stick with AMD for my graphics cards because they have more bang for buck, and I wish to use the new Mantle API as soon as it is released.

If anyone has a similar build and play BF4, how does it go? :) That is my question.

I'm surprised how components are expensive in Australia. 99$ for 8 GB of RAM and 180$ for a Vengeance C70 case ?

I forgot about the Mantle API. It's a good idea to keep your AMD card.

You could look at the Carbide 400R. It's similar to the Vengeance C70 and it has white LEDs. It may be cheaper.
