I have 120gb SSD that runs applications and I have 500gb internal harddrive to store photos, videos etc. I was downloading videos and suddenly I get an error. I checked my computer and my internal harddrive icon disappeared! I tried resetting my computer, it did not show up. I even opened up my case to plug and unplug the wire that connects to it and it will only show up for couple of seconds and it will disappear again...
What should I do? I dont think any Datas were lost though.

Let me guess... seagate?
you could also try changing the sata data cable if you have a spare, and putting in a different sata port.

Yes, looks like you need to replace it. My recommendation is to never by a Seagate drive again. Look at either a Western Digital drive or replace it with a bigger SSD drive, like a Plextor M5P Xtreme 512. Cost you around $380.

Do you need your data?

If so, then you will need to disable reallocation and clone your drive, sector by sector, using a tool (eg ddrescue) which understands how to work around bad media. Ddrescue keeps a log, so it can resume after an interruption.

To disable reallocation you will need to purchase a USB-serial TTL adapter and access the drive's serial diagnostic port.
