Installed new mobo/cpu/gpu and now PC is boot looping.

So I just replaced my old motherboard, CPU and GPUs with an ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer, i7 4770k, and a GTX 780. Now when I try to power on my PC, a pop sound comes from the speakers and all fans spin for about one second before everything shuts off. A few seconds later, everything comes back on for a second and shuts off again. It loops like this until I press and hold the power button. I've already tried checking each individual DIMM slot with single RAM sticks, checking with one of my old GPUs and also checking with no GPU, as well as reseating the CPU, but the issue persists. There's no way it's the PSU, as it was powering my old parts with no issue, and I believe the old setup actually required more power.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm assuming you checked all your connections right? Did you install all of the standoffs? I was on a thread where the guy had the same issue and he didn't install 2 standoffs. Or you may just have got a bad mobo.

All connections look good. All standoffs are properly installed. It's definitely possible that my mobo or CPU are bad, but I'd love to rule out which one before I send anything back. I wish I knew someone with socket 1150 so I could try their parts with my configuration and really get to the bottom of this. :(

Any other suggestions? Thanks again!

What's the easiest way to do this? Since all standoffs are correctly installed, where would a short be coming from?

I also want to add a few details that may or may not be helpful: When I press power, the computer waits about 5 seconds before it starts the boot loop. Also, when I install the CPU, the lever for the load plate requires quite a bit of pressure to get all the way down, and this even caused the load plate to put some light scratch marks onto the top of the processor. No idea if that changes anything.

Sorry for bumping my own thread, but just wondering if anyone else has any advice. I've been working at this all day, so I just want to make sure there's nothing left for me to try before I determine that the motherboard is DOA.

Thanks again! :)
