I currently run an fx-6300 at 4.3ghz and xfx 7870 ghz edition with a small overclock, i want to get battlefield 4 running at or near a minimum of 60fps and still have some "future proofness" in my system. I know bf4 is pushing over the 2gb mark a little bit for gpu at full ultra so 4gb should have me good for a while i suppose. I want to know how good off I will be in the next 2-3 years with those cards if i crossfired them? The 270x 4gb is $250 a piece while the cheapest R9 290x i saw was over $600. I would save $100 plus I dont plan on buying both cards right away, sell or trade my 7870 for a 270x. then a little down the road buy another one.

P.S rest of the specs are as follows
msi-970aG46 motherboard (planning to upgrade to something better maybe in the $120ish range)
Corsair cx600m PSU (again i plan to upgrade that to an 850w or so PSU)
kingston 120gb ssd
500gb 7200rpm hdd
8gb gskill ares ram 1600mhz

playing on a 47 inch 1080p LG tv, max refresh rate says 70hz.

I was planning on doing the psu and mobo upgrades first as their clearly needed for any type of crossfire really. but i can easily push this cpu to do 4.8ghz. I already got rid of cpu parking so my micro stutter and massive fps dips are gone, but on more demanding maps with ultra everything except AA, AA post, and ambient occlussion all off, i go down to around 30-35. my cpu tips at around only 90% usage. With a small overclock on that i can get a bit better performance out of the cpu if need be.

the 6300 is fine for current games, the next round of tough games you might want a new CPU. If you got good cooling on it crank those frequencies up. I agree with going with a 780, it will be future proof at 1080p for at least 3-4 years.

Sorry about taking so long to reply, but I'm more an AMD guy as its going well for them, mantle release, their hardware being in both consoles so console to pc ports are easier, and their cheaper, they seem like the more logical choice. But I guess I'll hold off on a new gpu until I either get an fx 8350 or something of that sort, Intel is just way too expensive for me. Yeah their better overall but at like 3 times the price which in my eyes isnt worth it. An 8350 should be more than enough for Amy game at 1080p. May upgrade to 1440p but that wouldn't be for a while, I'd like the monitors to drop in price a bit more as the cheapest I found was over $500

Yeah but switching to Intel would actually be more expensive if you think about it because I have to spend another $70-$100 on a new motherboard. For now I'm content with the 6300 but I'll see how it performs with thief when that releases. It should do well because of mantle support which should be more optimized for my gpu by the time it comes out. Idk time will tell. If I went Intel I'd want an i7 simply for hyperthreading. What's the best i7 for under $250 if there is one?
