My friend got their screen replaced on their dell studio 1749 laptop. The brightness is at the max level and know matter what I do I cant change it and am looking for some more ideas. The display is listed as a generic pnp monitor in the hardware list. Been messing with the official dell drivers for the radeon 5450 are only updated to 2010 and the drivers Ive tried installing from AMD will not finish and state various errors.
So far I have
-tried the key board keys
-used the button to bring up the screen menu
-Tried calibrating it (i can change the gama then it says use the key board or the menu screen)
-updated the display driver through dell
-tried changing the power options

Ideas
-unplug and re-plug in the screen and see if that changes anything
-keep trying the AMD drivers.

Any extra ideas would help

Have you went into the power settings???? and changed the power setting for it because if you run on the battery it will dim but you can also adjust brightness.

That's the only thing I can suggest that I know worked on my laptops in the past.
