hmm actually according to tom's hardware GPU Performance Hierarchy chart, the 9600GT is better than a GT 440:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-car...

(I remember that at least on CS 1.6 the 9600GT was able to sustain 100fps with 4+ smokes while a GT 440 would drop to under 40fps with 3 smokes)

You might wanna look around for some reviews where the 9600GT is compared to the GT 440, but I'm pretty sure tom's chart is correct.

Hi Radikal, and thanks' for yor post, yes i will take a look, but my big doubt about the GT440, is for being an more recent card, will be hevier on the system, the 9600gt is good indeed, but takes more power than the gt440, and i just puting this system more for media, nothing more.

As long as you have at least a 400w PSU the 9600GT will run just fine, having said that, if it's for media playback, the GT 400 could be a better choice, even though it's a slower card than the 9600GT I assume the GT 440 can handle HD content whereas the 9600GT if I recall correctly cannot, you'll have to check that.

Thanks' RadiKal for your help, but if i may ask you one last question, just to know, the GT440 is more heavier on the system or is just the same? i ask this to know if for some reaso in future i be needed of this graphics.

heavier in what sense... as in drawing more power from your PSU? Nvidia states that it pulls a maximum of 65W.

The 9600GT on the other side Nvidia states a maximum of 95W.

i mean heavier for the system, for the CPU or somethinf like that, forgive me if.. i'm not explaning correcty, but one day i read here someting of.. if an graphips card is to recent... can be more heaver or the system cant responde nicely has if has an old graphics card...

I see, your CPU is older than those cards indeed, but it should be able to handle them, maybe it will have some negative impact when playing bluray movies because while the GT 440 will take most of the work, the CPU will still be used, but..... I can't really tell how much of an impact it will be, could be unnoticeable.

soo for media them it will be better the GT440? but let's put in this way, between the 9600GT and the GT440... in your ideia which of this to will be less heavier?

hmm none, the GPU will alleviate the load from the CPU, other thing is that perhaps the CPU will limit the potential of the GPU, for gaming the 9600GT is your choice hands down, but since it's more for media playback the GT 440 being newer is able to handle better new video codecs so that's the one you want from those 3 cards.
