I disagree. With prices where they are now a ~250GB SSD is you best bet unless something larger is in your budget. I just upgraded from a 120GB OCZ Vertex 2 that was just over 3 years old to a 500GB Samsung 840 Evo. They cost roughly the same at just under $300 each so SSD prices have dropped quite a bit in the last few years.

A 120GB drive is fine if you just want Windows, programs and a few games. 250GB will allow you to have more than just 1 or 2 games installed at a time. A 500GB drive will allow you to not worry about space at all. If you are a gamer you know most newer games are 20GB+ so a smaller drive fills up fast. Just based on how an SSD works the larger capacity drives even of the same series are faster than the smaller...

Don't forget 20% of an SSD needs to be left as free space for TRIM to work correctly and a 120GB SSD formats to 111GB so you need to keep 22GB of that free. So when you buy a 120GB drive you are really getting 89GB of space.

This is a bit of a tangent, but related.

If you want to get the most out of an ssd, one thing I think you can do is separate an ssd into two partitions. If you have a 120 gb ssd have one partition at 100 gigs and the other at 20. Install the OS (and anything you need to be extra fast) onto the boot (100gig) partition. Then use the other 20 gigs as a cache for whatever hard disk you have installed (but make sure to use "enhanced" rather than "maximized", so that the data is safe)
