Hey, I recently purchased a MSI GT70 with a GTX 680m 4GB and a 3610QM (106.66MHz baseclock OC, 3.3GHz 4 cores) And for some reason, when playing BF4, my GPU usage is pretty low. It's usually anywhere between 20-60% load and my FPS are always very low. In campaign I can stare at a wall with no action going on and I will randomly jump between 10FPS and 70FPS for no apparent reason. When the GPU usage goes up, the FPS goes up. I'm running latest drivers. Does anyone know of a possible fix? Any help is appreciated. I'm not overheating or anything. I monitor with MSI Afterburner. It seems like a driver problem.

After doing a bunch of research and trial an error, it seems that the drivers were overriding the performance to lower power consumption. I tried all Recommended/WHQL drivers from 302 to current, and today's release of beta 334. What fixed the problem was when installing new drivers, go to custom and perform a clean installation. When complete, I went into 3D settings, and changed "power management mode" to prefer maximum performance. This doesn't seem to interfere with Nvidia optimus technology or V-Sync, meaning if you're getting 60FPS and don't need the extra horsepower, the GPU will automatically downclock in order to lower temps and power usage. It also still behaves normally when idle, downclocking to 135MHz/324MHz and using Intel HD4000 instead. I'll select you as best answer so the thread is closed and may be able to help anyone with similar issues. :)
