Hi,
I buy a HP Probook 4545s notebook with AMD A6-4400M processor on FP2 (904) socket, 17ED motherboard (CPU-Z information). A6 processor is so lazy so I want to upgrade to A8-4500M.
All A8 processors that I've found on E-bay site is with Socket FS1 (FS1r2). I can do this upgrade or I must to find new generation AMD A6 with FP2 socket?
AMD A10-4600M processor is also suitable for upgrade?

Thank you very much!

I believe that all of the CPU's that you have found are FS1 because they can be removed. It appears that FP2 is a BGA socket which means that the CPU is soldered to the mainboard and cannot be replaced. I believe that you are stuck with the 4400M. please see the link below.

Thank you for your answer.

What is strange is that CPU-Z program show FP2(904) platform while HWiNFO64 program show FS1r2(uPGA) platform.

I don`t know what is a true ...

Thank you.

Ok I think you have a socket.
look at this http://www.manualslib.com/manual/437300/Hewlett-Packard...
This manual provides complete teardown instructions. It looks like the A8 should work on your system and the A10 may work it has the same thermal envelope 35W power requirements and is of the same generation.

Dear Andrei,

Thank you for contacting HP Active Chat Support.

This is in continuation to our response with regards to your chat, we have checked with the level 2 and the processor socket is FS1r2 however as mentioned earlier, the processors given below are the ones supported by your unit. We would not be able to assure any other processors would work with ProBook 4545s.

AMD A4-4300M (3.0-GHz/2.5-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache) 685990-001
AMD A6-4400M (3.0-GHz/2.6-GHz, 4-MB L2 cache) 683047-001
AMD A8-4500M (3.0-GHz/2.1-GHz, 2-MB L2 cache) 683048-001

Those are the CPU's that HP installed and has tested as compatible. This information also mirrors what I said that the A8 should work and that the A10 may work. Remember they did not say that the A10 will not work they stated that they cannot assure other processors will work. The odds are in your favor that the A10 will work. The A10 is of the same generation, and has the same manufacturing process, thermal envelope, voltage requirements and core count. I f you have the available funds I would recommend Purchasing the A8 and the A10. Then install the A10 if it works sell the A8, if it does not work then install the A8 and sell the A10. Testing the A10 will not affect it. Personally I would try to put in the A10 because I am pretty sure it will work.
