Why do lots of people still use pentium4?

Solution
Taking a computer class is not a per-requisite to owning a computer. If it were, all those Blue-Shirt techs in the stores would be out of a job. I would say the vast majority of people who own computers couldn't care less what components are inside. As long as it works, they're happy. They have no clue (nor do they want one) how much faster a computer could be or how much more they could do with it.

Reason being these computers are for people who want to use it for basic reasons like browsing the web, video calling and document typing. You will most likely find it in internet cafes. These components are best for that.

I think pentium 4 is even slow af for normal web browsing its a single core with ht & I believe that era of dual core CPU's is over to we live in era of quad cores & 1gb ram is hardly enough to run win 7 / 8 & why still rock win xp when it's a dying OS which doesn't even support dx10 or dx11 & the dx10 on the net for it is a fake

These components wont really support Win 7 well and Win 8, not a chance. But the reason why is that there are still many people who know how to use WIndows XP, that is why it is best for it. It even has hyperthreading for a slightly better performance. I have been using it alot in the past and they are still around. They are also very cheap for someone who wants to use it for just basic reasons.

So what your basically saying is they don't care as long as it full fills their requirements?

I think you're overestimating the number of pc enthusiasts and overestimating the amount of people in the general population that are educated in computers, or even care. I know many older people who despise even using computers. While many young people use them, but, don't care what's inside as long as it's good enough for browsing

I have met a few people using a P4 Win XP machine with less memory, mostly for email, word processor, and youtube. The kind of PC you wait for 5-10 minutes before you can start using it. Some people are just very stingy. You will do the world a favor by convincing them to upgrade. Having said that, I personally feel bad for some of them who missed the opportunity to upgrade when Windows 7 was the OS available on cheap PCs at Walmart and Bestbuy. Now they have to go with Windows 8, and the stupid Win8 interface will do nothing to help their experience.
