hi ,
i have 945pl-s3 , with 800 fsb .
i am already overclocking it to 1066 with my pentiem 4

i am going to change the cpu with core2duo or dualcore.
what is the cpu fsb should i buy ? an 1066 FSB or 800 FSB .

as comparison between pentiem E5400 2.6 GHZ 800 FSB and pentiem E6500 3.06 GHZ 1066 FSB .
2600/200= 13 multipler ,,, 3.06/266 = 11 multipler .

is that mean the higher FSB mean lower multipler ?

one more question if you may :
wolfdale with cache 3 MB or conroe with cache 4 MB for 1066 FSB
or
wolfdale with cache 2 MB or conroe with cache 2 MB for 800 FSB ( core2duo E4700 vs pentiem dual core E5400)

Solution
my motherboard revision 1.0 , its support for 800 FSB . but i am able to over clocking it to 1066 FSB , haven't tried more than that .
now i am going to buy a used core2duo, and the 8400 cost like 250 pound the e5400 cost like 90 pound .
the 20$ is 140 pound here in egypt +the delivery cost .

ofcorse the 6500 cost more than 5400 , but :
e6500 2.93 ghz (266*11 = 2.93)
e5400 2.70 ghz (200*13.5= 2.70) if i did overcloked to 266 fsb it will be ( 266*13.5 = 3.6 GHZ)
so is better to get the 5400 and over clock it to 266 (3.6 GHZ ) ?

1st, you need to check and see what CPU's your MB supports and base your CPU choices on the CPU support list.

Other information

Core 2 Duo CPU's are dual core, Core 2 Quad CPU's are quad core. (Celeron and Pentium based on the core 2 Die for the most part are all dual core but operate at lower frequencies that the Core 2's).

Choose a CPU with the highest clock frequency the most cash, and most cores that stays within the limits of your budget and the MB CPU support list.

What revision is your motherboard? Check Gigabyte's specifications for that version and the list of supported processors.

The Pentium E6500 is faster than the Pentium E5400.

Since your motherboard supports them, have you considered a used E8400 or E8500? An E8400 can be bought for approximately $20 on eBay.

Solution
If you can get your FSB up to 1066 and keep the other busses at their raited speeds then you may have a hard time overclocking the E6500 because of its 1066 FSB. I recomend going wiht the E5400 because it uses an 800 FSB you can set your board to 1066, and reduce the CPU multplier to 10 this will give you a clockspeed of 2.66GHZ. then increase your multplier .5 at a time while ajusting your voltage to maintain stabilty. This is a 45nm CPU so should overclock fairly well I had an E8400 clocked at 3.6 which was also 45nm. ensure you get a decent cooler a CM 212 EVO should be fine. I would not expect anymore than about 3.2Ghz. your max clock speed will be about 3.59 Ghz.
