Hi guys I hope you can all help me I have been trying to solve this problem on my own but have got to the point that I need help from you guys.

The problem began when I switched off my computer at the power switch due to it freezing and not responding.

Next thing I know the hdmi signal was not being detected on my asus ml248. So I decided to unplug and replug the wires and switch the input screens vga to hdmi and back again. But the problem remained.

So I decided to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them again except when I get to reinstalling them again the nvidia installer cant find my graphics card.
I tried to see if I can search for it myself manually on device driver but the only thing on the display adapters is my onboard intel graphics card my graphics card was nowhere to be found.

I then decided to buy a new dvi to hdmi cable and still the problem remains.

I have opened up my pc and unplugged the graphics card and replugged it again aswell and that didnt work.

The graphics card has the fan running when my pc is on. so im not sure if its a power issue.

This has never happened before. My pc is a dell inspiron 530 and the graphics card in question is an nvidia 8600.

Is there anything else I could possibly do?

Have you tried an old version of the graphics driver? I seriously doubt the latest version still supports a card that old, which could be why it's not "detected".

Other than that, the graphics card may well be bricked. Happens sometimes, especially seeing how old that card is.

Heh... I remember my old 8600GT... y'know, Intel's best graphics have almost caught up to it!

Hi thanks for the reply.

I have tried to install the older versions but it tries to detect the graphics card before installation but to no avail. The system just doesn't detect if its plugged in even though the fan is spinning on it perhaps it has bricked itself and will need to get a new PC :(. No one beats father time I guess Football Manager 2014 was running gloriously on it then I turned the pc off at the switch tried restarting goooone. I guess it is as easy as that.

I wonder if this strange thing that happens when I turn on my pc has anything to do with it. The computer reving the fans really loud then stopping 3 times before it finally starts up has to do with anything. This was happening for over a year I just never really fussed about it so much since there didn't seem to be any problem with my pc and it was operating normally although slow but I expected it due to the age.
