Hello,
Is the AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core processor compatible with the gigabyte 970a ds3p. I think it is because they are both AM3+ sockets. But i just wanted to maked sure before i order them.

Most, if not all, motherboard manufacturers maintain a list of supported CPUs for each motherboard they make. Not surprisingly, this list is called the CPU Support List. If you look up your motherboard on Gigabyte's web site and click on the Support and Downloads tab/link, you'll see a link to the CPU Support List. Clicking this link opens a table detailing all the CPUs supported by that motherboard and what BIOS version is required for that CPU to work.

It WILL support your Amd processor but you may need to update the bios version. Some motherboards came out before the cpu was even introduced to the market. So the company sends bios drivers update so that they could keep up-to-date with them because the hardware components supports it.
