Hi,

I recently built my brand new computer and I have no idea why but my computer black screens. I have one to no programs and out of nowhere it blackscreens. I have also experienced this watching videos as well. It is a random occurrence too.

I am currently running, mobo: asrock h81m-dgs, gfx: Asus radeon r7 260x, CPU: I7-4770k, PS: Antec VP 450, Ram: Patriot Viper 8gb DDR3

Ok, try to remove your card and use the onboard vga connector for display. i guess there is something might wrong with you GPU driver, to update it !! May it works.

...I know it's a bit cliche to ask, but I have to... have you tried moving the mouse after the black screens to make sure it's not just the monitor idling?

Okay, assuming you do know enough about modern computers to avoid treating the screensaver like a catastrophe, It's almost certainly due to your power supply. You should get one with more thermal headroom. Especially if you're trying any overclock whatsoever on that CPU... and if you didn't... why in blazes would you get -that- CPU?

If you're going to overclock that CPU, I would recommend a power supply that's at least 750 Watts. And I wouldn't get a cheap PoS one, either. Good power supplies make every single part in your system last longer (even the fans). And while the r7 260x isn't exactly a heavy hitter, it consumes a good deal of power.

Also, I have to ask, you didn't build this system for gaming, did you? 'Cause if you did, well, your money was not well spent.

Yes I have tried that. haha. At the moment I have not overclocked it because I want to figure out what is going on and how to fix the black screens. It seems right now the black screens are happening more often and also to add on, this instance just occurred where I was just watching a video and then all of a sudden I get a black screen appears and then the sounds slowly dies out.
