Hello,

I've been using my PC for some time and thought about getting it ready for gaming. Games like bf3, cod4, crysis are on my toplist.

This is my current system:
CPU: Intel i5-650 (3.20ghz dual core 4mb cache)
GPU: None
Motherboard: Asrock H55m-r2.0 (4 ram slots)
Ram: 8GB DDR3 - 1333 (4x2)
Harddisk: Some 1tb 5200rpm (....)
Operating system: W7 ultimate (x64)
PSU: Aopen 400watt

I'm really curious if my CPU is good enough when I upgrade these parts:
GPU: GTX770
PSU: Seasonic 620w
SSD: Sandisk SSD 64gb
Total: €394

Else I'll get a new cpu & mobo but then it looks like this:
CPU: AMD FX-6300
Mobo: MSI 760GMA-P-34 (FX)
GPU: MSI R9 270x Gaming BF4
PSU: Seasonic 620w
Total: €396

OR THIS ONE
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 750k boxed
Mobo: MSI A78M-E45
GPU: MSI GTX760 gaming
Cooler: Arctic Alpine 64 PLUS
PSU: Seasonic 620w
Total: €408

What's the best idea to do, I would like to make my PC also future proof so I am really not sure about that i5-650..

Thanks in advance,

Headdy

When comparing the CPU's you're gonna get to the one that you have now would not be worth it at all. Keep the CPU and just get the GPU and the other upgrades. Save for a CPU like the i5 4670k, i5 4670 or i5 4570.

After having a look at your CPU, I think it's best to upgrade your GPU, PSU and get an SSD, then upgrade the mo'bo' and CPU a couple months later. Upgrading from your current i5 will yield a substantial performance increase, but it isn't enough of a bump to warrant doing it instead of a getting a good GPU.
