I recently got a knew graphics card and I have been having a few problems running games or benchmark utilities. Whenever I run one my computer just shut off. This could take about 1/2 Hour depending on how demanding the game is or it could just do it instantly like if I run a benchmark or a game like Farcry 3 or Tomb Raider (the new one). I have looked around on other forums and they say it could be a PSU issue but if it was why does it sometimes take while to shut off and sometimes instantly. It is not a over heating issue because I have both GPU Tweak and MSI Afterburner running and when it shuts of instantly it is at 27*C and it doesn't go higher I think because on the log it doesn't have any more figures and if it takes awhile then It will be on a game like minecraft and it is only 40*C and I don't think there that bad but I could be wrong. I up graded to a Asus R9 280X Matrix Platinum http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-322-AS&groupid=701&catid=56 This one. From a Asus GeForce GT 640

Sorry for the length of the post and thank a lot of any help.

System Specs:

AMD Bulldozer FX-6100 6 core CPU
8gb Corsair Vengeance ddr3 RAM
Asus Radeon R9 280X Matrix Platinum 3gb
Arctic Blue 750w Quad 12V rails PSU
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 Motherboard
Aerocool Strike-X GT Toolless Mid Tower Gaming Case

You got a very cheap and crappy psu and its not able to power the graphcs card. Never get psu's from unknown brands even if they say 750 watt or more they might ass well be something like an 400 watt psu from a decent brand i would suggest replaceing it very fast because it might be damiging your pc right now. I woulld suggest to go with an 700w psu from brands like corsair , antec, bequiet, seasonic,... anyways hope this helped

Can I just ask how would it be damaging my pc. If there isn't enough watts when i put it under load because it will need more but what if i am internet browsing would it effect my computer then? just wondering

Every time you card gets under load the psu will go overtime and shut off and that dameges your system but when you aren't useing it intensivly it won't harm it. But i do reccomend replacing it

I am going to get a 850 watt xfx

700 watts is enough but xfx hasn't been in the psu market for a long time so i would look up reviews before buying this one and if its a good one then you go for it if not get another one from like corsair or antec,...

I don't really know about psus but someone in the reviews says that the have 2 670s and 5 ssds but anyone can put on a review... it is this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-P1-850S-NLB9-PRO850W-Edition-Supply/dp/B0045L4BNW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390741091&sr=8-1&keywords=xfx+850w i was guessing it was good because new egg did a review on it

That one is waaaayyyy overkill this one will be a better option: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Builder-Series-Modular-Certified/dp/B00ALK3QRS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390744620&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+cxm+750w
