AMD 7870 or GTX 760 for FPS games (like Battlefield 4 on Ultra settings)?

Hey there, I just wanted to ask a quick question guys! ;)

Here is my list (the monitor is different though - benq gl2450hm): http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2xkrC

I don't know whether to get the AMD 7870 or the GTX 760. There is a price difference of about £50, and the less i spend the better. I will be mainly playing first person shooter games, mainly battlefield 4.

As I want to play on ultra setting for the awesome experience I was told that the 760 would, of course, be the best. But I've seen people play bf4 (on youtube) using ultra settings but with the 7870 (and same cpu as mine the fx8320 or fx8350).

Would there be a big difference between the two graphics cards when playing fps games like bf4?
Is it worth investing that £50 to a better graphics card? I can use that money to buy a mic or the microsoft office - both of which I need within 4months and i can get one item ery 3-4motnhs, so one item now and one item 3-4months later - but I'd rather play on 50-60fps ultra settings than medium settings 30-40fps.

I tried to be clear as i could, hope you can help, thanks guys!

Battlefield is an exceptional game that prefers AMD cards which is why a 7870 can outperform the 760. However this is not the case in the vast majority of games, where the 760 will perform better.

Oh ok thanks! :D

But on other games would it be a big difference? like could i still play on ultra or high settings?

How much of a difference will depend on what game(s) you be playing.

Hi,

Instead of a 7870, why not look into getting the 7870 LE edition, if you could find it. I know I've seen it occasionally pop up on Aria.
That way you're running similar performance to 7950 ( not quite ) but still better than gtx 760.
What is your price range?

For a GPU, max is £200 but 7870 is £150, so the cheaper the better i guess. Oh it's £170! :D

Please tell me more about the 7870 LE edition, why is it more better than the original 7870?

Thanks bro!!

Lool, it's all good. It's basically (I hope you're familiar with 79xx cards) the same chip as them (Tahiti) but cut down a bit in terms of compute units and shaders. (No they can't be unlocked by reflashing)

But they offer really good price/performance compared to the Pitcairn architecture on the 7870.

After having a quick look around: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/tahiti-le-7870-7930-bench...

This should answer your questions and quench your thirst.:D
