Hi everyone, time to swap amd's cooler since I exceed 60C on heavy gaming. Are there any solutions that I don't have to take out my mobo and all of its components? I read that some coolers (AM3+ ASUS M5A97 R2.0) just attach to the stock bracket without replacing any backplates and that sounds sweet. I got the Coolermaster K380 case so the max cooler height is limited to 155 which narrows the options. Any help?

Although the website, or manual, does not mention it, it looks like there is a motherboard cut-out for the back of the motherboard. Can you confirm if that is true?

If so, then worrying about re-installing the whole rig to install a CPU heatsink should be a null issue.

If you don't have a cutout, I know of only one, off the cuff, CPU cooler that is below 155mm that utilizes the stock backplate; it uses a 92mm fan, though, and is rated for 150 TDP: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186092

If you have a cut-out, I think a look at the Thermalright True Spirit 120M is definitely worth it.

Guys you mean something like this?

Is this the back plate? (at least 95% of it)
If so I guess the "Thermalright True Spirit 120M BW Rev.A CPU Cooler" is my best choice?

it would be a little fidgeting to get the bolt/nuts to tighten but a backplate cpu cooler can be done on those two slightly covered by the metal on the back right there. I've done it before, it just takes a little while, can be done with some needle nose pliers

Thanx everyone, ordered the True Spirit. Shouldn't the fan face my case's fan (where the ports are) which is pulling out the air? Because I see all installments like this
