XFX recommends a 750w PS for their R9-290 Double-Dissipation card?

This can't be accurate. Minimum 750w PS for their new R9-290 non-reference card:

Someones tell me this is wrong. I've seen all other R9-290 (non-X) cards listed as requiring a 600w PS.

Yes, you don't need 750w to run a 290, 600 is what I have seen reccomended for other cards.

600w will do fine buying a 750w for a single r9 is a waist of money even if you oc'ed the card it will not need a750w PSU

So why do you think they make that statement? I mean, even if they think it needs more than 600w, saying it needs an extra 150w over every other manufacturer seems ridiculous.

According to the newegg.com requirements for that card is 500W. The card itself uses 300w, at least that's what its rated. I'd say could possibly hit 350-375w under full load. So that leaves which processor your using, example mine fx 8350, 125w but 200w under load. Using max card power of 350w and 200w for chip, gives 550w just for those, plus then factor in mobo, ram, hhd, cooling solutions, ect. So I would say no less than 600w at 80 plus rating, but would use 750w just to be safe.
