This appeared pretty straight forward but having a couple issues.

First off, I had to remove the stock heatsink and fan shield in order to remove the stock cables. Not sure why I didnt think of it, but I assume I need to go out and buy some thermal paste and clean/re apply now? I see the sticky on this forum on the procedure.

So I removed the old and installed the new. I have a XPS420 and used an Antec EA-380D. After some careful work and routing cables, I basically had no issues plugging everything back in. I had the motherboard 24 pin connector, 4 pin CPU connector, pci-e connector and 4 SATA. I believe that is all.

I closed it up and tried to start it up, but I only get the Mini-view screen to flash white and the power button blinks yellow. eventually the only light left is a small blue symbol up by the mini-view window.

What am I missing here? any troubleshooting hints? Would this power supply have an issue with the Dell power button setup? (new power supply of course has an on/off switch on it while the Dell did not, purely using the front button. Cycling this only repeats the start up I describe above).

any help appreciated.

Jim

fyi, Dell manual states the blinking yellow power light means it has power but an internal power problem may exist and to check all motherboard connections. I will verify but really doubt this is the issue.

Ok, I checked and all connections are secure.

Any thoughts I am missing? should I reinstall the old to verify the function? (the old just had a noisy fan)

thx

I found the issue to be the new PSU was bad. I returned it and bought a different unit and it has worked perfect.
