Do you have 32 or 64 bit windows? If you have 32 bit, you will only be able to use 3.3gb RAM but you can install 4.

Changing RAM will NOT help performance. You laptop is simply LOW end. I'm sorry. Upgrading RAM is waste of money.

Go to crucial.com and check. They have a scan tool to check what RAM you can upgrade.

sorry but I believe it helps to improve performance...wen I use softwares like 3ds max auto cad it consumes my full ram upto 800mb so its better to extend ram upto 2 to 3 gb..

You can add 4gb RAM , but your system will only see 3.3gb because it is 32-bit. GO TO crucial.com and run the tool. I cannot tell you what you need as I do not have enough information.
ok crucial.com result says its 2 ram slots in 1 slot 1gb ram another slot is empty but it didn't said upto to how much I can extend my ram .. u said I can expand upto 4gb so can I buy 3gb ram and put it in 2 slot? and crucial.com says its DDR PC2-6400 ram that means???

No, you can only USE 3gb. You can put in as much as you want but only 3gb will be usable.
You should but a 2gb stick and put it in the empty slot that way you have 3gb total.
