I haven't built a computer in about ten years. Anybody care to take a critical look at this? I chose an Intel system, but I'm not against AMD.

Primary use of this will be photo editing and occasional MMORPG type games, but it would be fun to grab something newer and be able to play it. Also I'm just trying to future-proof as much as possible.

I already have an Antec Earthwatt 500W PSU and a CD drive and a monitor to re-use. Purchase date will be soon. Reason: my ancient Vista computer is dying. I have no idea how I got 5 years out of it. Oh, I also am currently running a PNY Geforce GTX 650. I'm assuming I need to upgrade that. Am I shorting myself on the video card? Thanks!

If your picture/video rendering, price wise id def recommend the fx 8350/8320 and an asus pro board. Overclocked will be same if not better than i5, or blow for blow, while gaming. But rendering fx will blow i5 and reach i7 category.

There are quite a few minor changes, just compare it to your own build. The gpu is probably the biggest.

If your current psu isn't giving problems you could just use it.If it might give problems with haswell it might have to do with the c7 state in the bios which is a power saving option, just disable this one then.
