Replacing motherboard and cpu

If I replace my motherboard and CPU but still use the original hard drive from my pre built will i. Have to re install windows 8. and have to buy a new windows 8 license ?

Generally speaking, changing the motherboard and CPU is the equivalent of a new computer in Microsoft's eyes. You can try installing the OS you presently have, on the new mobo and CPU and activating it via telephone. Microsoft is not ob;ligated to honor your request, but they may do so. It is worth a try.

A new license will not be a problem at all!
