Trying to share a media drive across a network and just not working

I have 2 computers, both running Win7x64 Sp1 and connected with network cable (not WiFi).

My computer (main) has a 2nd hard drive internally that's just videos and I run XBMC off this computer as well for watching movie and such.

I built a small HTPC for the living room, ran ethernet to it. Both computers are on WORKGROUP, and no login windows (just a main user on each and when turned on it goes right to the desktop). I'd like to keep it this way... I don't want to have to click which account to login with on either system or enter a password.

I right clicked the hard drive I want to share and went to advanced settings, under advanced sharing I went to permissions, and Everyone was in the list, so clicked that and gave Read access which is what I want (read only for other users).

When I go to the other computer, I can see this one, when I click it asks for a username/password. Tried everyone, guest, admin... none work and keeps asking for a password. On this computer I also went into the network sharing centre and under advanced I turned off the password protected sharing. Still no luck.

I'm decent with computers, but crap with networking/sharing. Anyone know of a quick fix?

Should work but isn't... I can see the drive (actually I have an E:\ and an F:\, two media drives but focusing on one at a time).

Anyways, I can see it on the network, when I click it doesn't even ask for a password anymore, just says access is denied. I can also map it, and it shows as a mapped drive under My Computer... but again, when I click I get denied.

Neither computer has any passwords set at all.Share list shows Everyone (and only Everyone) and set to read enabled.

Seems like it should work... but just isn't.

Ha... finally after an hour figured it out.

It's a hard drive, not a folder... so all the videos/how-to's I keep seeing never mention that if sharing a drive, you have to (in addition to the sharing) go into Properties-Security and add "Everyone" into that list as well.

After changing that and clicking ok, you see all the filenames whiz by fast as it resets the file permissions. After that it worked (so far) no problem.

So... question I have is... when I clicked ok and it ran through all the files and updated the info... will it automatically add that info when I drop files into that folder? I assume so... but... I can click properties on a folder, turn off Read-Only and click to apply to all files/sub folders and it will update the properties of all the files... but I can add a file after that's read-only and it will stay that way. Not sure if the same deal or not... hoping not else be a pain to constantly apply the change everytime I add a movie.
