Connect my samsung 32" via air antenna to surround sound

I saw other threads about the monoprice and I bought it but could not get the connections correct. I am receiving the signal via air and hooking up the HDMI from the TV into the monoprice and using RCA,optical cable, back to my amp doesnt work. I didnt see any other threads that use an antenna to receive signal that the monoprice device could use.
Solutions?

Your TV does not have an HDMI output only inputs. The only way you can get audio from an HDMI input is through a ARC (audio return channel) enabled setup. For ARC to work it requires both the TV and surround system to have ARC and has to be enabled in both. I think the adapter you got will strip the audio off of an HDMI source. Won't do ARC though.
