Question about potential hardware damage from dust

Hi all, I'm building an open air rig, and there's really only two places I can put it:

1. Elevated on a wooden table in the living room which is totally carpeted

2. Elevated on a wooden table in my bedroom which has wood floors

I'd much prefer the first option because I will be running a 20'' box fan to cool the rig so it will likely get quite noisy. However, I'm worried about the potential of dust damaging the components. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with setting up an open-air rig in a carpeted room? Or should I not worry about it since I'll have the box fan blowing a consistent stream of air away from the rig?

Thanks.
